Copying Course Components

Copy Course Components allows you to copy course materials and activities from one D2L course site to another. This process copies only course materials and activities; it does not copy student data.

Please Note: To copy course materials from one D2L course site to another, you must be enrolled in both course sites as an Instructor. If you would like to copy materials from another instructor's D2L course site, that instructor must add you to their course as an Instructor.

There are two choices when copying your course materials:

 


 


Copying All Course Components

1. Go to the D2L course site you want to copy materials TO and click Course Admin.

2. Under the Site Resources category, click the Import/Export/Copy Components link.

3. Click the Search for offering button.

 

 

4. Search for and select the course you'd like to copy course materials from.

 

 

5. Click the Add Selected button.

Tip: If you do not see any courses listed, you can run a generic search that will return all courses you have Instructor access to. To do this, click the magnifying glass button at the end of the Search For field.

6. Click the Copy All Components button.


7. You will be taken to a page that displays the copy in progress. You may click the Copy Another Package button to return to the main Import/Export/Copy Components page or the View Content button to go to the Content tool in your D2L course site.



Tip: You may exit this page at any time. You do not need to wait for the copy to complete

Copying Selected Course Components

To copy selected course materials from one D2L course site to another:

1. Go to the D2L course site you want to copy materials TO and click Course Admin.

2. Under the Site Resources category, click the Import/Export/Copy Components link.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Under the Copy Components from Another Course option, click the Search for offering button.


 

 

4. Search for and select the course you'd like to copy course materials from.

 

 

5. Click the Add Selected button.

6. Click the Select Components button.

7. Select the course materials you would like to copy:

A. Select All Components: Place a check mark to the left of this option if you would like to copy ALL course materials and activities.

B. Individual Course Tools - Copy All: Place a check mark to the left of each course tool you would like to copy over. Leave the Copy all items option selected if you would like to copy all items within the selected tool.

C. Individual Course Tools - Select Items: Place a check mark to the left of each course tool you would like to copy over. Select Select individual items to copy if you would like to pick and choose which items within the selected tool you would like to copy.

ImportantLeave Include associated files checked as it will prevent broken links in your course.

 

8. Click the blue Continue button.

9. If you chose to select individual items within a tool to copy (option C above), D2L will lead you through a series of screens (one for each tool selected) where you can make your selections. On each screen, make the desired selections then click the Continue button.


Click the Finish button

 

10. Review your final selections. Click the Finish button to complete the copying process or click the Go Back button to make changes.

11. Wait while the copying process completes. When all materials have been copied, you can click the Copy Another Package button to return to the main Import/Export/Copy Components page or the View Content button to go to the Content tool in your D2L course site.
