Google Apps (Google Mail and Drive) is now integrated into D2L. All UA students email is through Google and they have access to the Google suite of applications (Google Docs, Drive, Calendar etc.) The integration with D2L allow students to easily access their email inside a D2L course and it allows them to submit files to submission folders from their Google Drive.
If a course instructor has enabled his or her UA Google Apps for Education account he or she can also upload documents to the course from Google Drive once the UA Google Apps for Education account has been connected to D2L via the Google Apps widget in a course.
In order for students to have access to their Email and Drive from within a D2L course, the instructor needs to add the Google Widget to his or her course home page.
Adding the Google Apps Widget to your course homepage
If you are using a Default Homepage
1. Make a Copy of the Default Course Homepage. Instructions: http://help.d2l.arizona.edu/content/copy-homepages
2. Add the Google Apps Widget to the Default Homepage Copy by clicking on the name of the copied home page and add the Google Apps widget using these instructions (be sure you add the Google Apps Widget and NOT the Access Google Apps widget) : http://help.d2l.arizona.edu/content/edit-homepages#Add a Widget
3. Finally, set the homepage o which you justadded the Google Apps widget to the active homepage Instructions: http://help.d2l.arizona.edu/content/set-active-homepage
If you are using a Custom Homepage (one that you have previously edited)
1. Google Apps for Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff do not have a UA Google Apps for Education by defatult. They can obtain a Google Apps for Education account by logging into UITS Accounts tool and select the UA Google Apps for Education account from the list of available accounts.
