About the Copying Components Tool
Using the Copying Components tool, allows you to copy course materials from one course site to another. The tools that can be copied over are:
- Checklists
- Content
- Course Files
- Discussions
- Dropbox
- Events Calendar
- FAQ
- Glossary
- Grades
- Groups
- Navigation Bars
- News
- Question Library
- Quizzes
- Self Assessments
- Surveys
To access the Copying Components tool from your Course Home page, click Edit Course and then select Import/Export/Copy Components.
To copy all course materials:
- On your My Home screen, under My Academic Courses, click the link to the course you would like to copy materials to.
- Click the Edit Course link located in the blue navigation bar.

- Click Import/Export/Copy Components.

- Click Next to indicate that you would like to Copy Components from another Org Unit.

- Near the bottom of the screen, use the Existing Offering drop down menu to select the course you would like to copy materials from.

- The screen will reload with a list of all available course components. Check the box to the left of Select All Components.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Next.
- On the Confirm Components to Copy screen, click Next again.

- Please be patient as this process may take a few minutes. Click Done once all materials have been successfully copied.
Selecting Individual Components to Copy
To copy only selected course materials:
- On your My Home screen, under My Academic Courses, click the link to the course you would like to copy materials to.
- Click the Edit Course link located in the blue navigation bar.

- Click Import/Export/Copy Components.

- Click Next to indicate that you would like to Copy Components from another Org Unit.

- Near the bottom of the screen, use the Existing Offering drop down menu to select the course you would like to copy materials from.

- The screen will reload with a list of all available course components. Check the box to the left of each tool you would like to copy materials from.
Please Note: When copying Content, you must also copy Course Files. Not doing so will result in broken content links. - If you would like to copy specific files or items from a specific tool, you must check the box to the left of the tool and then select Select individual items to copy.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Next.
- On the next series of screens, you will be able to select the items and/or files to be copied. Select the files and click Next. There will be a separate screen for each tool you selected to copy materials from. You will only see these screens if you have chosen to copy individual items, not an entire tool.
- On the Confirm Components to Copy screen, click Next again.

- Please be patient as this process may take a few minutes. Click Done once all materials have been successfully copied.
