About the HTML Editor
The HTML Editor makes it easy to create links, insert images and change font size and color. Using the HTML editor will make your course site more readable, more attractive, and more accessible.
It is available in the following tools:
- Content
- Discussions
- Dropbox
- News (news items appear on the Course Home page)
- Quizzes
- Self Assessments
- Surveys
- and more!
The HTML Editor Window
A new window pops-up when one clicks on the HTML Editor icon,
. This new window is the HTML Editor window. Its interface is very similar to that of a word-processing application.

Use HTML Editor to Add/Edit News item
- Click on Course Home or News
- Click on the plus sign
from the Course Home or click on New Item from News to access the HTML Editor. - A new window, like the one below, will open giving you access to the HTML editor.
- Type or paste your text in the workarea--see above illustration of HTML editor window.
- Click Save

Change Font Color or Make Bold
1. Drag the mouse to highlight text that you want to make bold, make larger, make a different color, etc.
- 2. Then click the appropriate icon in the menu bar, for example B to make text bold and T to choose color.
- 3. Click Save.
4. Click on Course Home to see the results of your work!
Create New File/Topic in Content
1. Click on Content.
- 2. Click on Manage Content.
- 3. Click on New Topic.
- 4. Click on Create New File. The HTML Editor window will appear. Copied text may be pasted into the workarea or text may be entered directly. Use the icons in the menubar of the HTML Editor window to format the text, insert images or create links.
- 5. To save your work click Save.
- 6. Click View Content and click on the hyperlinked title of appropriate topic to see the results of your work.
Insert Multimedia file (Windows Media, RealVideo, Quicktime, AVI, Flash)
It is generally best to insert multi-media files using the HTML Editor rather than linking directly to the file. Winodws Media, Real Video and Quicktime files may be embedded or a link may be created to the file or the streaming server where the file is located.
