About Preferences
The Preferences tool allows you to change your font settings, paging preferences, discussion room layout, email preferences, and pager sounds.
Accessing Preferences
- From your MyHome page, click the Preferences link in the Welcome Box located on the left side of the page.
- You will be taken to a new page where you can change your preferences from within the five different tabs.
Change General Settings (Font, OS, Internet Connection)
- From the Preferences page, make sure you are on the General tab.
- To change your font, click the drop down box and select your font. To change your font size, use the font size dropdown box and select the size. The preview box will now display how your changes will look.
- To change your Internet connection speed, click the dropdox box and select your connection. It is not required that you set your internet speed, however it does optimize your D2L experience.
- You can change your operating system also by clicking the dropdown box and selecting the operating system that you are currently running.
- If you are satisfied with your changes, click the Save button.
Change Paging Preferences
The Paging Preferences refers to how many users are displayed per page in your classlist.
- From the Preferences page, click the Paging tab.
- Click the classlist drop down box, select the amount of users you want per page.
- Click the Save button to save your changes.
Change Discussion Preferences
The change Discussion preferences allow you to change how the discussion tool works for you.
- From the Preferences page, click the Discussions tab. You will be taken to the Discussions preferences page.
- You can change Display Settings, Default Message View List, Message List Style, Message Fields to Display, Character Limits, and Reply Settings. Click the checkboxes corresponding to the preferences that you wish to enable, and uncheck the boxes that you wish to disable.
- Click the Save button to save your preferences.
Change D2L Email Preferences
There are several options you can choose with the D2L Email tool. If you do not want to check your D2L email, you can choose to have your D2L email forwarded to an email account you check frequently.
Email Options
It is highly recommended that you check the box next to 'Save a copy of each outgoing message to the "Sent Mail" folder'.
Text entered in the box to the right of Email Signature will automatically be displayed at the bottom of a new email message.
Display Options
It is highly recommended that you check the box next to 'Mark messages as read when viewed in the Message Preview pane'. It is preferable that you show messages in the Message Preview Pane, as some pop-up blockers will interfere with your message appearing in a new window. The Show the Folder List pane is helpful fornavigating your email folders.
Forwarding Options
You can forward your D2L email to the email account you use most frequently.
- Check the box next to 'Forward incoming messages to an alternate email account'.
- Enter the alternate email address.
- Mark the radio button next to 'froward and mark read in the Inbox folder'.
Change Pager Preferences
Set this preference to receive visual notification when someone pages you as well as to select your Pager sound.
If the Pager icon is off, you will receive incoming pages, however you will have to manually check for pages by clicking on the pager.
- From the main Preferences page, click the Pager tab. You will be taken to a new page where you can change your pager's preferences.
- You can toggle the incoming page icon on and off, as well as changing the incoming page sound, listen to the difference page sounds, or even turning off the incoming page sound.
- Click Save to save your changes.
