About the Schedule Tool

You and your students have access to an online calendar via the Schedule tool. You can access the Schedule tool from My Home and My Course pages. The Schedule tool allows you to set reminders for important dates and activities. As an instructor, you can create and event for yourself or for your students' schedule.

Access the Schedule Tool

You have access to an on-line calendar through the Schedule tool. Availabe on the My Home or any Course Home page, the Schedule tool allows you to set reminders of important dates and activities.

  1. To access the Calendar/Schedule from the main Course Home click the icon that looks like a calendar located along the left edge of the screen.

    The main Calendar page displays:

    You can select to view Personal events, Group/Section event, Course events, or Academic events.

  3. Click the Display Options icon display option button.
  4. After you have clicked the Display Options icon the Display Options widow will open allowing you to select to display Personal events, group/section events etc.

    This is the easiest way to see all the events for your course.

  6. You can also click on the Search Events icon search events button at the top of the Schedule page to search by date, event type, etc. You will need to click on Show Search Options in the Search Events window.

    Entering a start and end date will allow you to see events for the entire semester.

Add New Event

To add a personal event, from the main Calendar page:

  1. Click New Event

 

The New Event page displays:

  1. Type the Title of your event.
  2. Type a Description of the event
  3. Choose a date by using either the drop-down boxes or by clicking the small calendar image beside the drop-downs.
  4. Select whether you want to Share with other users, and if so, Add Users you would like to see the event.
  5. Click Save

You now have a personal event scheduled for that date. Click the date to see the calendar event and the description in the screen beside the calendar.

NOTE: You can also add an event by clicking on from the menu on the Schedule page.

Import events

If you want to create multiple events at once, you can upload an existing calendar (for example, from iCal). To import events in the form of an Excel spreadsheet or .txt file, from the main calendar page:

  1. Click on Import.
  2. The Import Events page displays:

  3. Here you can upload a file by:
  • Clicking on Browse and selecting an existing file.
  • Clicking Next.

NOTE: It is highly recommended that you avoid importing as the import file must be set up in very particular ways. We recommend using the Add
Event
feature and add each event one at a time.

View and Print Your Event

To view a version of your calendar in printable format and then have the option of printing it:

  1. Click on the Print Buttonbutton on the top of the page.
  2. A pop-up window will open allowing you to preview your calendar.
  3. Click Print on the bottom of the window to print the calendar, or Close to close the window and cancel the printing.

Edit Event

If you wish to edit an event, you can do so by clicking on the hyperlink for the event from your My Home page or your Course Home page.

  1. Click on the hyperlink for the event you would like to edit. You will be taken to the Edit Event page.
  2. The edit event window will allow you to make changes to the event

  3. Edit your event and click Save.

Delete Event

You can delete an event from the Schedule window or from the Edit Event window. From the Schedule window:

  1. Click Delete Events 
  2. location of delete events in the schedule window

  3. In the Delete Events window, select the event to delete by placing a check in the box to the left of the event. Click Delete Selected.
  4. in the delete events window you will choose the event to delete then click "delete selected"

From the Edit Event window:

  1. Click Delete
  2. click on the delete (garbage can) icon in the edit event window

  3. You will be asked if you want to delete the event. If you do, click Delete, if you don't, click Cancel.
  4. in the confirmation window select delete to delete your event or cancel if you've changed your mind
