About the Journal Tool

A journal, or notebook, is a tool for managing information. A journal is unobtrusive, easily transportable, and works almost anywhere. Use the online Journal to record your ideas, insights, reflections and thoughts.

Please Note: The Journal tool is not a collaboration tool. Journals CAN NOT be shared with other users. Please use the Discussions tool if you would like students to be able to view/comment on other users responses to questions and journal entries.

Create a Journal Entry

  1. From your Course Home, click on the Journal link in the navigation bar. The Journal link will be in your navigation bar if you've chosen it to show. If it is not visible in your navigation bar it will need to be added from the Edit Navigation Bar.

  2. Choose the Personal or Course tab to add a personal or course journal entry.
  3. Click Add Entry to open the Add Journal Entry window.

  4. Give your entry a Title and type in your content.

  5. If you wish your entry to be in HTML, select the In HTML box.
  6. Click SAVE. Your journal entry will now be listed in My Journal. You can view the journal by clicking the link of the journal name.

    Delete a Journal Entry

    To delete entries, select the box beside the entry and click the Delete button.

    You will be prompted to delete the journal entry. Please note that once the journal is deleted, you will be unable to retrieve it.
