Instructor: Create Assignment Submission Folders

 

Create: Individual Submission Folders

Where users submit their own files and are assessed individually.

To create:

  1. Click on Assignments tool on navigation bar.
  2. Click the New Submission folder button.new submission folder button

     

  3. Enter the Name of Assignment folder.
  4. Under Folder Type select Individual submission folder.image of name and folder type options
  5. Select corresponding gradebook Grade Item.
  6. Enter the point value of the assignment in the Out Of field.image of grade item and out of points options
  7. Save and Close to save.

Note: Students will not be able to submit if they are using special characters in the name of the file they are attempting to upload to an Assignment folder. For the best chance at success use only letters, numbers and spaces. The specific list of characters that D2L will reject is: : " / \ | ? *​

Create: Group Submission Folders

Where group members submit files to a group folder and are given a common grade.

To create:

  1. Click on Assignments tool on navigation bar.
  2. Click the New Submission folder button.new submission folder button

     

  3. Enter the Name of Assignment folder.
  4. Under Folder Type select Group submission folder.
  5. Under Group Category, select your group category you want to use. image of name and folder type options with Group selected

     

  6. Select corresponding gradebook Grade Item.
  7. Enter the point value of the assignment in the Out Of field.image of grade item and out of points options
  8. Save and Close to save.

Visibility: Date Restrictions

Hide folder and add Start/Due/End Dates to new or existing folder.

To add restrictions and dates:

  1. Click the Restrictions tab of the folder.
  2. Select Hidden from users to keep students from seeing the folder.
  3. Select Has Start Date to allow students to submit after entered date.
  4. Select Has End Date to not allow students to keep submitting after entered date.
  5. Select Has Due Date to allow students to keep submitting after entered date, but flagged as late.image of availability restrictions

     

  6. Save and Close to save.

Enable: Turnitin Originality Check

Set up of Originality Check feature on a new or existing folder.

To enable:

  1. Click the Turnitin® tab of the submission folder when creating a new or editing an existing folder.
  2. Select Enable Turnitin for this folder to turn the feature on.image of originality check

     

  3. Under Display, you can select Allow learners to see Turnitin similarity scores in their submission folder if you want students to see their own originality report created by Turnitin.
  4. If using Grademark® Feedback Studio, enter a given date to allow students to see their feedback.image of originality display and grademark feature options

     

  5. Save and Close to save.
