D2L Community: Enroll Students

You can't enroll students into Community D2L courses yourself.  The D2L support team is glad to assist you with this.  

1.  Prepare: Enrollment File

Prepare the participant enrollment file using a specific format to be sent to the D2L team.

  1. Click the icon below to open the sample CSV file in the format you want to use.
    1. Click to open the Google Sheet Sample file Click to download the MS Excel Sample sheet

       

  2. Directions on adding your participants to the file can be found in the spreadsheet.
  3. Once you have completed your participant enrollment file, it should be saved as a CSV file.

    Saving From Google Sheets

    Click File, hover over Download, then select Comma separated values (.csv, current sheet).

    Saving from MS Excel

    1. Click File, then Export.
    2. Click Change File Type.
      Click the change file type option
    3. Select the CSV file option.
       Choose the CSV option
    4. Click the Save As button at the bottom of the screen.
      Click Save As to finish process
    5. Continue to save the file as you normally would.

2. Submit: Participant Enrollment File

Submit your participant enrollment file to the D2L support team to be uploaded to D2L.

  1. Submit your file to the D2L support team using this form.
  2. Once you receive confirmation that your participants have been successfully enrolled, contact your participants with login and password instructions.

3. Contact: Participants

Inform your enrolled users how to access and login to your course.

Now that you have created your course and enrolled your participants, you will need to email your participants to let them know how login to the D2L community site and find your course.

For Participants with UA NetIDs

  1. Go to the D2L Community Site.
  2. Click University Login and sign in with NetID.Choose University NetID

     

  3. Look for your course site name under “My Courses” and click on the image to enter the course.
  4. Look for an Announcement telling you what to do next or click on Content and start reading what has been posted.

For Participants with no UA NetIDs

  1. Go to the D2L Community Site.
  2. Click Public Participants.
  3. Click Set your password.Click Set Password Link
  4. Type in your email address (this is also your user name).
  5. You will be sent an email that contains a link to set the password.
  6. Return to the D2L Community Site.
  7. Click Public Participants.
  8. Enter email address (this is your username). Enter the password you set.
  9. Look for your course site name under “ My Courses” and click on the image to enter the course.
  10. Look for an Announcement telling you what to do next or click on Content and start reading what has been posted.
