Instructor: Awards

1. Locate: Awards tool

Find the Awards tool within Course Admin.

  1. Select Course Admin from your course navbar.course admin link on course nav bar

     

  2. Select Awards.awards link within course admin

2. Create: Create awards or certificates

The D2L Awards tool enables instructors to grant digital awards or certificates.

There are two types of Awards that an instructor can issue to a student:

  • Badgesdigital markers that represent the accomplishments based on criteria determined by the instructor of the course. 
  • Certificatescertificate in PDF form also awarded based on criteria determined by the instructor of the course. 

To create awards:

  1. Select Course Awards.
  2. Select Add Award to CourseCourse awards with Add awards to course button circled.

     

  3. Select CreateCreate button circled.

     

  4. Enter the new award Name and a Description
  5. Choose whether to create a Badge or a CertificateCreate award screen with Award Type circled.

     

  6. Set the Availability for your award. Availability options for awards.

     

  7. Choose an image for your award. You can Create your own award image, or upload an icon from the online library or your computer. Choose Award Image section.

     

  8. If you are creating a new Certificate, you will have an additional option under Choose Certificate Template: to use an already existing PDF template, click From Existing Library. To add a new template to the image library, click Upload New Template.  Choose Certificate Template section.

     

  9. Enter the Issuer Information. This information will display in the awards details when issuing the award. 
    • Issuer Name: Enter the name of the person issuing the award.
    • Issuer URL: You can use your courses URL or the University of Arizona's D2L URL: https://d2l.arizona.edu/ .
    • Issuer Contact: Enter issuer's email address. Issuer information for awards.

       

  10. Make sure that the Use this award now check box is selected if you want to use it in the course site you are creating the award in.
  11. Select Save and Close.

3. Manage: Add or remove awards to course

Awards can be added or removed from any course you create.

  1. Select Course Awards.
  2. Select Add Award to CourseCourse awards with Add awards to course button circled.

     

  3. Check the box to the left of the award(s) you wish to add. 
  4. Select AddArrow points to the checkbox to add existing award, with Add button circled.

4. Edit: Edit existing awards

Make changes to existing awards or certificates.

  1. Select Course Awards.course awards link to edit award

     

  2. Search for the Award you want to edit, and under the award image, click Edit Award.
  3. Make necessary edits, and click Save.

Note: Changes made to an award will apply to all instances of this award including those who have already been issued the award.

    5. Manage: Award release conditions

    Release Conditions allow you to automatically award students for meeting set criteria.

    1. Select Course Awards.edit award, edit properties link

       

    2. Search for the Award you want to add a release condition to, and select Edit Properties.
    3. Under Release Conditions, click CreateCreate release conditions for award (Create button circled).

       

    4. After creating your release conditions, select Save.

    6. Manage: Issue or revoke awards

    Manually issue or revoke student awards.

    To manually issue an award:

    1. In Classlist Awards, select the students you want to issue awards to using the checkbox by their names.
    2. Click the Issue button. Classlist Awards with Issue button circled.

       

    3. Select the award you want to issue, and add the criteria that the student met in Award CriteriaAward criteria with issue button circled.

       

    4. Click Issue.

    To revoke an award that was already issued:

    1. In Classlist Awards, select the students you want to revoke awards from using the checkbox by their names.
    2. Click the Revoke button. Classlist Awards with Revoke button circled.

       

    3. Select the award you want to revoke, and add the reason for revoking the award in Revoke ReasonRevoke award criteria with Revoke button circled.

       

    4. Click Revoke.
